What’s the Risk? Will things ever be the same again?

I’m Mark Roach.  This is Business meets Texas Indy Film.  My pursuit of acting and writing for film helped me heal from early childhood trauma.  Some of the same factors that drove me as an artist, also drove me in engineering and business.

A few of you have come forward telling me my story helped you deal with your experiences.  Thanks for that.  If you’ve encountered trauma in your life, let me tell you, they’ve learned a lot about emotional healing, the mind body connection, since the 1990’s treating veterans suffering from combat trauma.  Check out EMDR, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing.  Many trauma recovery resources are available on-line and through health care and therapy providers that can help you recover, get in touch with your feelings and get your life on track.

Change is part of life.  Today we’re seeing more change occur at the hands of – well however this virus is spread – that is changing everything.  So the real risk is not adapting, not protecting ourselves the best we can.  And like many times my acting career, I did the work, sometimes I thought I’d won the role, but really had no.  Sometimes I even got the role, but when I got on set – maybe I was taller than the star.

In the oil business, the price of oil or natural gas was always an unknown.  And when you drilled a well, there were lots of factors that could make it a winner or a money loser.  Risk was inherent in the business.  You could even run into people wanting more than their fair share.

I feel lucky to be here.  Things are definitely changing and it’s looking like things won’t be the same.  So let’s do our best to make them better, one way or another.  I really do believe everything is going to be okay.  I’m Mark Roach.  This is business meets Texas Indy Film.
